First 1,000 days

Stunting prevention starts before the child is born

SAFERSCHOOL.AI follows a family from pregnancy to the child's second birthday: antenatal visits, vaccines, meals, growth and PhilHealth benefits, then a first taste of learning with strict time limits.

Follow one family through the first 1,000 days

Stunting starts long before school, so SAFERSCHOOL.AI starts with the expectant mother. Tap each stage to see what the household device does.

About the first 270 days

A digital Pink Card for every expectant mother

The household device carries the mother's Pink Card. It tracks her antenatal visits and reminds her before each one, so fewer are missed.

Who is involved: Mother, RHU midwife and municipal physician

What the device tracks

  • The 4 to 8 DOH antenatal care visits
  • Blood pressure readings
  • Iron and folate supplements
  • Tetanus-diphtheria (Td) shots

From age 2

First lessons on the family tablet, with a time limit that holds

When the child turns two, the same kit opens a small, locked learning space. Short sessions build the basics, then the tablet goes back to the parent.

A hard stop, not a reminder

Knox locks the child profile after 30 to 45 minutes, set by the parent. It cannot be skipped from the child's side.

Offline and ad-free

Lessons run from the device with no browser, no ads and no app store.

In the child's own language

Counting, shapes and first sounds are taught in the mother tongue.

Learning together

The profile is built for a parent or day care worker sitting beside the child.

Health and PhilHealth

The family's health benefits, on the same device

The kit that tracks the pregnancy also connects the household to PhilHealth, the barangay health team and the support it is entitled to.

PhilHealth Konsulta

The family profile shows each member's Konsulta coverage, so mothers and children are steered to their primary care provider for check-ups. E-prescriptions land in the family wallet.

PhilHealth GAMOT

Outpatient medicines under PhilHealth GAMOT are tracked with the child's health record, alongside the family's statutory medicine discounts.

Pocket Clinic for health workers

Midwives, school nurses and physicians keep pregnancy, vaccine, nutrition and referral records on the Pocket Clinic. Only authorized medical and nursing staff can open them.

Help with hospital bills

DSWD AICS hospital guarantee letters are checked in advance, so a family facing a hospital stay knows what support it can get.

Support for solo parents

Under R.A. 11861, solo parents get discount codes for infant formula, diapers, medicines and vaccines for children up to age 6.

School health, all the way up

As the child grows, the same record carries school clinic referrals, feeding program attendance and medical clearance before PE.

Health modules are planned for later phases and depend on DOH and PhilHealth agreements. Health workers keep every clinical decision.

The care team

Health workers stay in charge. The device keeps everyone connected.

Mothers, midwives and nutrition scholars share one record of the pregnancy and the child's growth, even in barangays with no signal.

Mothers and families

Get visit and vaccine reminders, scan meals, follow their child's growth record and join DSWD Family Development Sessions in their own language.

RHU midwives and physicians

See each mother's Pink Card and each baby's vaccine schedule on the Pocket Clinic, synced both ways, so no visit falls through the cracks.

Barangay Nutrition Scholars

Take and confirm height and weight, receive SMS alerts when a child needs help and follow up at home.

What it never does

  • It never diagnoses stunting from the camera
  • Health workers take and confirm every measurement
  • No unsupervised screen time for young children
  • No promise of quick stunting reduction

Funded and tested where it matters

Under R.A. 11148, the Kalusugan at Nutrisyon ng Mag-Nanay Act, DOH and the National Nutrition Council co-fund the service for young, stunted and 4Ps learners. The module is planned for the WVSU Pathfinder pilot, including the Lanit Aeta resettlement community child development center in Jaro, Iloilo.
